Briefing: Other Worlds
Tuesday morning's press conference, "Windows on Other Worlds," featured Bruce MacIntosh (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory) on first light from the Gemini planet imager, Thayne Currie (University of Toronto) on a directly-imaged super-Jovian companion to a young star, and Nick Cowan (Northwestern University), who addressed the question, do super-Earths look like Earth? Rounding out the briefing were Aren Heinze (Stony Brook University) on probing stormy weather on brown dwarfs and Adam Burgasser (University of California, San Diego) on weather on the nearest pair of brown dwarfs. AAS Deputy Press Officer Inge Heyer (Loyola University Maryland) presided over the briefing.
