Briefing: Black Holes
Wednesday morning's press conference, "Care & Feeding of Black Holes," featured Amy Reines (National Radio Astronomy Observatory) on giant black holes in dwarf galaxies and Peter Maksym (University of Alabama) on death by black hole in a small galaxy. Turning toward our own galactic center, Leo Meyer (University of California, Los Angeles) and Nathalie Degenaar (University of Michigan) described Keck infrared observations and Swift X-ray monitoring, respectively, of the cloud(?)/star(?) G2 during its encounter with our galaxy's central black hole. AAS Deputy Press Officer Larry Marschall (Gettysburg College) moderated the briefing.
